About Me

TLDR: I do standup. I do clown. I do burlesque. I do content.

Sometimes I do these things separately, sometimes I combine them. I just want to have fun and make you laugh. I've performed in other people's shows. I've produced my own shows. I love taking crazy ideas and making them whimsical realities.

KiKi Maroon is a Los Angeles based comedian,  circus producer, and award-winning burlesque clown. Known as “The Standup Who Strips Down”,  her life on the road as a showgirl has given her a unique voice on stage. Combining stand-up comedy, storytelling, and cabaret, KiKi was called “a modern day Lucille Ball” by The Houston Press (though Lucille never pulled a clown nose out of her panties).

How It Started

KiKi  has come a long way from the Texas trailer park she grew up in. She went to school for costume design, with a focus on millinery (hat making). A few burlesque dancers reaching out to her for custom showgirl headpieces changed the trajectory of her life. After discovering the wonderful world of burlesque, KiKi  put together a very unserious burlesque clown act for an amateur night at a bar and a star was born. What started as a joke, became her entire life. More and more venues added KiKi to their line-ups and she became a Houston staple. She was named one of "Houston’s Most Colorful Celebrities” by The Houston Chronicle and one of “The 100 Most Creative People” by The Houston Press. In 2015, KiKi launched The BCBC Festival, an international burlesque and circus festival. In 2019, she held a multi-city residency with Live Nation as the star of KiKi Maroon's Burly Q Lounge. The vaudeville  style variety show received rave reviews,  selling out the year long run.

Pause. Recalibrate. Grow

When venues shut down in 2020, KiKi shifted from producing large scale events to focusing on her solo work. This was not a conscious decision, as much as an attempt to not go insane. Like most painful transitions, it ended up being the best thing that could happen for her. Once everything re-opened, KiKi took off like a rocket, performing her new solo acts all around the world. After charming audiences on five continents, KiKi moved to Las Vegas to join the notorious variety show- Miss Behave's Mavericks.  KiKi starred in the show as the sexy stripping clown , riding a giant mechanical balloon dog (named Charlie).

The Mushy Stuff

KiKi has donated her time and expertise as a producer and judge for the BHOF Weekender, an annual fundraiser for the Burlesque Hall of Fame Museum . KiKi has also served on the board of directors for BurlyCares, a 501(c)(3) organization providing housing and medical assistance to elderly burlesque, magic, and circus performers in need.

After a public battle with addiction, KiKi launched a 15 episode podcast called Clown, Interrupted. An interview style show, the podcast focuses on artists in recovery and the life choices that led them to sobriety. The Houston Chronicle called Clown, Interrupted, “an hour’s worth of near-perfect rock ’n’ roll lifestyle conversation.” The show led to her TEDx talk, “The Beauty of Rock Bottom“, which chronicled her journey from alcoholic stripping clown to bump n’ grind burlesque super star.
